It is the mission of the North Merrick Public Library to provide its patrons with superior and unique community services and experiences, while serving as a "community commons" and providing materials, programs, and facilities to meet the informational, educational, cultural and recreational needs of all members of the community.

It is the belief of the Library Trustees that a library is an essential part of a community; its purpose is to provide an opportunity to build a community of lifelong learners by being a conduit of information.

A core belief of the Board is that a library adds immeasurable value to our human existence. Access to information and meeting as a community empowers us to dream, enlightens us to our potential, and liberates us to take hold of the unknown.

The Trustees, Director and Staff are committed to creating an environment where patrons can nurture their intellectual curiosity in a safe, and nurturing atmosphere.
